Finding Journals at the Forestry Library
What do I do if:
- I am looking for articles on a topic?
Use our Indexes to conduct a subject search. Suggested indexes for Agriculture, Biology and Ecology. Suggested indexes for Forestry . Questions? AskUs
- I have a citation already?
Look up the journal (not article) title in
MNCAT Journals Catalog. Once you find the journal, make sure to click on "Location" to see if the volume/year you need is available.
- I want to see if this journal is available online?
The MNCAT record will say "TC Internet Resource Online Resource " if it is available online. Alternately, look up the journal on our E-Journals page.
- I have a citation with the journal title abbreviated (i.e., J. am. chem. Soc)?
You can search the abbreviation in MNCAT as if it were a title.
- the journal is at another UMN-Twin Cities library?
See if the journal is available online. If not, you will need to go to the library and photocopy the article yourself, or use our Libraries to U service. They will copy/scan the article and deliver it via mail or email for a fee ($5.00 per article).
- the journal isn't in MNCAT or we don't have the volume/year you need?
You can request a Interlibrary Loan request to get a copy of the article from another library. Articles are usually posted to the web; you will receive an email when it arrives.
